Hi. My name is Ian McClure,

and I am a transportation design student at Lawrence Technological University in Metro Detroit, where I am in my final semester of my bachelors degree. While growing up in Westchester County New York, my family took frequent road trips. These were foundational experiences in my life, as I would pass the time with my nose pressed to the window trying to recognize car make and models from as far down the road as possible. As I grew up, my love for cars only increased, as my friends and I would visit exotic car dealerships and attend the Scarsdale Concourse D’Elegance. These experiences sent me down the path I am on today. I am interested in internships in creative design, and I am especially interested in interiors. Thank you for checking out my page.

Enabling the Superhuman

I’ve always been fascinated with going beyond natural human abilities. Design, especially vehicle design, enables this.

I often dream of flying, swimming, or running at incredible speeds, and revel in the freedom I feel in these dreams. Through cars, bikes, and planes, we are able to achieve this in the waking world. We can go beyond our natural abilities, which limit us to certain types of motion, and perform feats which would seem astonishing at any other point in human history. The more intuitive and pleasing the tools that allow us to do this, the greater the thrill we feel as a result. It is my goal to design vehicles that blur the line between man and machine, allowing us to experience the joys of being superhuman.
